In early August, we had the pleasure of flowering Hannah and Ryan's beautiful wedding. The day unfolded across two remarkable venues, each offering its own charm, from the traditional ceremony at Lockerley Church to the riverside reception at Houghton Lodge, set in a White Bison stretch tent along the banks of the River Test.
The reception at Houghton Lodge
was styled with a romantic theme. The marquee was transformed into a floral haven, with large trees adorning the poles, adding height and a touch of the outdoors, working well to bring colour and richness to a higher level. Two impressive urns stood as statement pieces at the entrance, while inside, a low stone bowl filled with roses on a plinth served as a striking backdrop to the top table. On the trestle tables, we placed bowls of roses, dahlias and phlox and clusters of bud vases, each filled with carefully selected blooms that reflected Hannah’s desire for a pink palette. We used a variety of scented blooms to add a subtle, romantic fragrance that lingered in the air, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. This attention to scent is something we always prioritise—throughout our meticulous crop planning, we incorporate fragrant elements such as herbs and seasonal flowers to evoke lasting memories.
Most of the flowers were grown at our farm,
as part of our ethos of using locally sourced, British-grown flowers. We plan our crops with each event in mind, sowing and nurturing flowers throughout the year to ensure that when the time comes, we have the freshest, most beautiful blooms available for your wedding. By working closely with the seasons, we ensure that our arrangements not only reflect the natural beauty of the time of year but also carry a strong sense of time and place. This seasonal approach allows the flowers to blend effortlessly with their surroundings, enhancing the natural beauty of your venue and creating a harmonious connection between the florals and the wider landscape. Each stem tells the story of the season, ensuring that your wedding flowers feel uniquely tied to the moment.
The process
Planning this wedding, like all of our weddings, began many months before the big day. From the first enquiry to venue visits and mood boards, we worked closely with Hannah and Ryan to create a floral design that reflected their vision. Our consultation process, which includes a visit to the farm to see the flowers growing in the field, helped them visualise their wedding flowers in real-time and feel connected to their choices.
In the days leading up to the wedding, we harvested and conditioned the flowers, ensuring they were at their best for the big day. The day before and the morning of the wedding, our team was on site, installing each piece with care and checking over every item with meticulous attending. Finally delivering the bouquets and buttonholes personally.
Sustainability is always at the heart of our work,
As proud members of the Sustainable Wedding Alliance, we remain committed to minimising waste and reducing our environmental impact. Every stem, bud, and piece of foliage is grown with care, composted to enrich our soil, and arranged without the use of floral foam, ensuring that beauty and ethics can sit hand in hand. After the wedding we created bouquets for the wedding party to take home, and all plant material was returned to the farm to be composted to add goodness to the soil for future crops.
This August wedding was a celebration of locally grown flowers, thoughtful design, and the natural beauty of the season. It was a joy to bring Hannah and Ryan’s vision to life, helping to make their day as memorable as possible. We wish them a long and happy marriage!
